International Day of Families Social Media Quiz Campaign

On May 15th, the UN recognizes International Day of Families to promote awareness of issues relating to families. WLP leveraged the visibility of International Day of Families to call for the restructuring of the culturally determined roles and beliefs that perpetuate gender discrimination and the reform of the discriminatory family laws the codify discrimination against women and girls. The key issues, goals, and success of WLP’s Equality Starts in the Family campaign served as the focal point of our online advocacy activities throughout International Day of Families.

During the five days leading up to International Day of Families, WLP shared interactive social media quizzes to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, with each day covering a different issue area of inequality at the level of the family. On May 15th, International Day of Families, the final quiz questions related directly to the Equality Starts in the Family campaign, ending with a poll question that asked the audience to share what “Equality in the Family” means to them in comments or replies.
